About

You want something new, you open a store, and ten thousand games are sitting there rated 90%. “Is it good” was never the hard question. “Is it for me” is, and that is the one this site tries to answer with arithmetic you can check.

How a match score is made

Every one of the 1,030 games here carries a weight on six axes — Adventure, Story Rich, Exploration, Strategy, Competitive, Action — derived from its tags. Your own profile is the weighted average of everything you have played, where a game you loved and lived in counts for more than one you bounced off after an hour.

A match score is then six signals with fixed weights, the largest being how close the two taste vectors sit. Every page shows the arithmetic: the number is on the card, and the reason is under it.

A comparison never contradicts a match score, because both read the same six numbers. That is a property of the design, not a thing we check afterwards.

How the writing is reviewed

Comparisons and “games like” shortlists are not generated and published. Every one of them is read by a person first: who reviewed it, when, and which sources it leans on are all recorded, and a draft that has not passed does not appear on the site — it stays in the back office. Today that is 193 published comparisons and 120 shortlists.

The rule we hold ourselves to is that a page must say something specific enough that no other site could have written it first. Pages that turned out to be tag-shaped filler were pulled back and rewritten rather than left up.

Where the data comes from

Steam’s public Web API, store pages and public review data. Facts on a page cite the source they came from. Prices and availability go stale between captures — the store page is always the truth.

Independence

There are no ads on this site, no paid placements and no commission-bearing links. Nothing can be bought into a ranking or into a shortlist. If that ever changes, it will be labelled where you can see it, and this page will say so.

Both languages

The site is fully bilingual. The comparisons, the shortlists and the tag introductions are written separately in English and Chinese rather than translated from one into the other — the two languages build different sentences around the same facts. Interface strings do go through a translation pipeline.

Who runs it

One independent developer. Corrections, arguments and business mail all go to support@gamevgame.com — see contact for what to include.
